SHL Group AB is seeking a Patent Information Specialist to join our Intellectual Property Department in Nacka Strand, Sweden. This is an opportunity to join the global leader in auto-injector technology, whose growth and industry leadership relies upon protecting and promoting a strong intellectual property portfolio and continuous innovation.
In the position as Patent Information Specialist, you will be a part of the Global Patent Group within the SHL Medical Legal Department and will report directly to the IP Manager in Nacka Strand. You will work in close collaboration with other members of the Global Patent Group in Asia, Europe, and the United States, as well as inventors and project managers based in Nacka Strand and in SHL Medical's Taiwan, Switzerland and US operations. The role will be a part of a collaborative effort with innovators and IP practitioners focused on defining, qualifying, and supporting SHL Medical in obtaining product clearance and patents.
As Patent Information Specialist, you have knowledge, experience and interests relating to the following duties and responsibilities:
- Translate search criteria into extended search queries and perform expert patent searches, identify and analyse relevant patent information (patentability, validity, and freedom to operate) and compile search report and communicate to internal customers (R&D teams, IP/Legal team)
- Pro-actively supply technical and statistical information to R&D teams and IP/Legal team.
- Identify potential inventions across the project teams and support inventors in drafting Invention Disclosures
- Create and manage automatic search profiles to detect new IP applications of competitors
- Improve the service with regard to patent and literature searches
- Support Legal Department with technical knowledge and documents
- Participate in the IP Department's global meetings to exchange information regarding R&D activities, FTO/Invalidation work, and IP Prosecution
- Provide internal training in order to spread IP knowledge and training on best practices
ABOUT YOU:
- You have at least a Bachelor’s Degree in computer science, engineering, hard sciences, or equivalent
- 1+ years of experience in searching in patent databases
- Preferably qualified, or willing to qualify for, “Qualified Patent Information Professional” (QPIP)
- You have the ability to analyze complex mechanisms; electromechanical devices and mechanical interactions
- You are curious, a fast learner, and an organized person
- Fluency in English language is essential, both written and spoken
