The position:
As a senior Design engineer, you will be part of our North-East Design team. You are a key player in the development of creative, functional design concepts together with our end customers and sales companies in Nordic and Russia. You understand modern retail and are motivated in finding solutions for the customer building on the HL values of increase sales, save cost, reduce food waste and creating meaningful differentiation.
You take the design thru the entire process from first sketches to final drawing, prototypes and test installation.
Area of responsibilities/main duties
* Liaise closely with Account Managers and/or Project Managers to develop customer-focused solutions. Develop strong customer relationships by delivering relevant creative solutions on time and on budget.
* Ensure concept designs are cost-effective, manufacturable and functional by working closely together with Engineers, Creative Designer and Purchaser in Design centre.
* As part of the creative team in Nordic you will share ideas and suggestions within your team and other Design Centers, to take on the ideas of others and develop a centre of creative excellence.
* Use chosen software packages to produce professional high-quality and eye-catching design engineer solutions within the company guidelines.
* Build prototypes in plastic, mainly from heat-bending and laser cutting.
* Manage time effectively to ensure deadlines are achieved. Communicate project status regularly and effectively with Design centre manager.
* Increase existing design engineer practices with stimulating and fresh ideas.
The Design Engineer is located in Nacka Strand and reports to the Regional Design Manager.
Your Profile:
We are looking for you with a university degree in Engineering or equivalent. You have at least 5 years of experience from manufacturer in wood, sheet metal or interior design industry or equivalent. All experience from retail companies is a merit.
As a part of a Design center you need to enjoy working in a team but also independently as an expert in your field. You are highly motivated and have the ability to take ownership and responsibility for design engineer solutions - You will handle your own projects and have your Design Center as support. You are highly creative and innovative and an effective communicator, able to present ideas with clarity and confidence. You will work with many different fast projects at the same time, so work with accuracy and speed is a must. You are fluent in Swedish and English.
Professional background:
* Knowledge of extrusion and injection molding in plastic.
* Experience from sheet metal, wood, wire manufacturing is an advantage.
* Experience in engineering design within the Retail and Brand sectors or equivalent.
* Proficient user of SolidWork or equivalent.
* Good skills in MS Office tools
