As a Laboratory summer worker, you will be working in the laboratory with the ongoing innovation projects in close collaboration with the laboratory engineers and the researchers in the R&D teams. By working in the Innovation Centre you will be part of a dynamic international and interdisciplinary environment. We have high focus on health and safety and you will together with your colleagues consider safety throughout all aspects of work, and ensure that safety standards in the laboratory are in line with safety procedures and routines.
Your tasks include:
• Preparation, processing, testing and characterization of materials and samples
• Documentation of experimental and analytical data
• Administration of experimental samples and chemicals

Qualifications
Are you the one? In order to succeed in this role, you have some experience in laboratory work. Your proficiency is based on ongoing studies or a completed degree within chemistry, chemical engineering, material science or another relevant area. You are a great communicator and communicate fluently in English and have good knowledge in Microsoft office tools. You have a dynamic work attitude with an analytical and systematic approach as well as excellent team working skills.
You will be working at least 8 weeks in the period June-August during day-time office hours.

Responsibilities
We are looking for a Mechanical Engineer to design and build new biorefinery processes. You will be a part of an interesting journey to development new processes from conceptual design to pilot operation and further to commercial scale in close cooperation with the R&D team. You will work with multi-functional teams to achieve project goals as a project leader as well as a project member with your expertise.
Do note – while this position is with our Biomaterials R&D Organization, we are looking for a Mechanical Engineer. You work in close cooperation with our material specialists as the expert in process & machine design, flow dynamic and pipe and pressure vessel design.


Tasks include:
• Perform process design, development and implementation of capital projects including machine installation
• Prioritize and develop processes based on critical needs
• Evaluate current processes and recommend new ideas and techniques to ensure project success
• Develop and maintain process related documents
• Provide support and mentorship to team to meet daily work demands
• Develop projects within allotted timelines and budget
• Ensure in compliance with company and industry standards both in Europe and US.


Qualifications
• Master of Science in mechanical engineering plus a few years’ experience from process development or process design
• You have proven experience in project planning and management as well as experience from investment projects
• You have capability to recommend improvements and redesigns for equipment and process to meet safety, quality, production and cost goals
• You have good knowledge in AutoCAD and 3D models
• You have strong customer and business focus and are proficient in English. Proficiency in Swedish and Finnish are a benefit
• We need a creative teammate who is communicative, analytical and innovative.
