The Role
You mainly work with various sensor solutions that are used in our products. The work includes many disciplines like mechanics, electronics and software. You work with sensors on component and system level and are also responsible for modelling and simulations to explain their characteristics and dynamical behaviour on a system level. We see an increased need for modelling and simulation to reduce development costs and time-to-market, as well as increase uptime for our customers. As a mechatronics engineer, you contribute to these targets on a daily basis, working closely together with design engineers to constantly improve our product portfolio. Activities in this role can include experiments in our lab, communication with our sensor suppliers, development of simulation models, as well as mechanical, electronics and software implementation.

You are part of research and technology innovation initiatives within the line organization and in the product projects, ensuring that Atlas Copco continue to be market leader.?The solutions we develop are used to improve efficiency, quality, safety, speed, ergonomics and environmental performance.

What we expect of you

As an electronics engineer, you will design, maintain, improve and implement hardware for the existing and “next generation” of power tools and assembly systems. You will work in a cross-functional and agile environment, together with positive and motivated colleagues developing long-lasting solutions to our customers. Furthermore, you will support external and internal manufacturing with solving technical issues, ensuring that Atlas Copco can continue to be the market leader of power tools and assembly solutions.


My name is Leif Ekman and I am leading the Hardware Engineering Team at the Engineering Department, R&D. The team consists of 16 colleagues. As team manager I am proud of the team’s drive to always find a better way and always helping a colleague if needed. The R&D department in total consists of about 350 people placed at Atlas Copco’s headquarter in Nacka. Atlas Copco is a market leading company present in 90 countries.

Your profile
You are an Engineer and have at least 5 years’ experience in electronic development and preferably within industrial electronics.
If you have genuine technical interest and a deep technical understanding, combined with a strong drive, creativity and persistence - this can be your challenge. You also have a curios mind - eager to independently learn more about our customers’ needs. As your role involves a wide network, both internally and externally, you need great collaboration and communication skills. Atlas Copco is a global company with employees from all over the world and uses English as a corporate language.
