We are now offering a position for a talented and experienced R&D Specialist in carbon materials for battery material development to strengthen our Lignode Product Development Team. In this position you will help to develop, optimize, and commercialize new innovative bio-based carbon materials for sustainable Li-ion and Na-ion batteries, with a special focus on material design and development. You will join a highly motivated international and interdisciplinary team and work closely with internal and external technology partners, pilot operations, and business development.


Your core tasks will be to:
Design, conduct, and contribute to scientific research and development activities in the field of electrochemical energy storage, with a focus on material design of carbon-based anode materials for Li-ion and Na-ion battery applications.
Create innovative ideas and solutions to develop new carbon-based materials and to optimize existing materials, building upon your previous expert knowledge of carbon materials.
Perform own R&D synthesis work in lab and pilot, lead and supervise internal as well as external research activities.
Take responsibility for scientific and technological progress.
Provide internal trainings, write application notes, patents and publications, give scientific presentations
Provide scientific and technological consulting and support for scale-up activities, process engineering, business development, sales, and regulatory affairs.
Monitor relevant technical and scientific literature and patents.
Create, revise, and monitor laboratory work procedures.
Ensure that the workspace is as safe as possible (create and continuously update risk assessments, make safety observations, keep workspace clean and in order, etc.)



The position is based in Sweden at the Innovation Centre for Biomaterials in Sickla, Stockholm.




Who are we looking for??


In order to succeed in this role, you should have:
A PhD degree (or an equivalent research expertise) in material science, chemistry, chemical engineering, or a related field
Deep expert knowledge on structure, properties, and synthesis of hard carbon and/or graphite and/or activated carbon and/or other battery anode materials
Relevant industrial experience of at least 2 years in carbon, graphite, activated carbon and/or battery active anode industry (or alternatively, experience from close cooperation with carbon / graphite industry)
Knowledge on battery applications for hard carbon / graphite / activated carbon materials, and knowledge on KPIs of battery materials (beneficial)
Practical experience with synthesis (lab / pilot / production) and willingness to work practically
Solid theoretical experience with carbon analysis techniques, ideally also practical experience
A strong scientific and technical background combined with structured analytical thinking, a hands-on can-do attitude, problem solving ability, and results-driven approach
Experience in writing patents and scientific papers, and giving scientific talks?
A good network in carbon and/or anode material industry (beneficial)
Willingness to travel internationally up to 20% of worktime
Fluent communication skills in English, both orally and in writing.
Valid European driving licence.

You will contribute to our exciting mission by synthesizing next generation carbon materials and by performing analyses on new materials from our R&D laboratory as well as from our pilot plant. We are now looking for a Senior Specialist who will create and develop new-to-the-world packaging solutions, using FDCA-based polyesters enable by Stora Enso’s proprietary FuraCore technology. Your work will lay the foundations of the materials brand owners will use in the near future to package their products, like carbonated drinks, juices and creams. You will create, test and validate the polyesters that enable these packaging solutions, leveraging a network of external companies with expertise in polymerization, conversion, and testing.
Furthermore, you will ensure that external R&D is coordinated with and implemented in Stora Enso’s internal R&D efforts in line with internal strategy and management decisions.
Responsibilities included but not limited to:


Projects - Design, carry out, lead and follow up projects and project activities. Educate and supervise colleagues. Ensure trials are run safely.
Monitor Technology - Follow and screen relevant technology and science (academic and commercial). Act on topics relevant for Stora Enso to engage in.
Communication - Create reports that can drive decision making. Present own work and own competence area in internal project meetings and external meetings. Be the expert in customer meetings.

You have the ability to interact with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders and you are skilled in obtaining support in a networked environment from people who do not report to you.

Who we are looking for
In order to succeed in this role, you have a profound experience with working in a chemical laboratory and with handling of chemicals, which you have ideally shown by:
10 years of practical work experience in a chemical laboratory / factory,
or vocational training in chemistry or chemical engineering plus 5 years of practical work experience,
or completing bachelor studies in chemistry or chemical engineering plus 3 years of practical work experience.


Any experience with development of battery or carbon materials or with the afore-mentioned analysis methods is seen as meritorious.
You are skilled in the use MS Office applications (such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and MS Teams. Experience with LIMS and ELN is a benefit.

As a Laboratory summer worker, you will be working in the laboratory with the ongoing innovation projects in close collaboration with the laboratory engineers and the researchers in the R&D teams. In this position as a R&D Specialist you will help to develop, optimize, and commercialize new innovative bio-based carbon materials for sustainable Li-ion (and Na-ion) batteries, with a special focus on electrochemical aspects. Qualifications

Fluff pulp is used mainly as absorption material in diapers and feminine hygiene products, but also for fabric-like napkins and tabletops made of so-called airlaid nonwoven. What we offer
You will be part of a team that works with customer driven innovation and product development of fluff pulp with sustainability in focus. Qualifications
In order to succeed in this role you have a PhD degree in electrochemistry, chemistry, chemical engineering, or a related field. 2+ years industrial and/or academic track record in battery R&D (after completion of your PhD studies). Comprehensive general knowledge of materials and components for electrochemical energy storage, especially for batteries.
Proven practical and theoretical knowledge on electrochemical analysis methods, especially on electrochemical test protocols for anode materials and full Li-ion cells.

Biomaterials Innovation is now looking for a Lab Engineer to join our team. The position is located at the Innovation Centre for Biomaterials in Sickla/Stockholm.
Tasks
As a Lab Engineer you will perform laboratory work with a focus on synthesis and analytical characterization. You will, furthermore, contribute to keeping the laboratory infrastructure operative and ensure that the workspace is safe.
Main responsibilities
• Perform routine and advanced synthesis (under instruction), including thermal, mechanical, and chemical processing.
• Perform routine and advanced analysis.
• Help to develop new experimental and analytical methods.
• Continuously document lab work results and findings in ELN and LIMS (and other databases and documentation systems if required).
• Perform routine tasks (ordering consumables, chemicals, handling waste, etc.) to keep labs operating.
• Ensure that the workspace is as safe as possible (create and continuously update risk assessments, make safety observations, keep workspace clean and in order, etc.).
Core Qualifications & Skills
• 10 years experience of working in chemical lab, or vocational training + 5 years experience of working in a chemical laboratory, or bachelor + 5 years experience of working in a chemical laboratory
• Hands-on mentality and willingness to support other laboratory activities on short notice.
• Open-minded, well organized, safety-oriented.
• English, fluent in speaking and writing.
• Good skills in MS Office applications (MS Word, MS Excel, MS Powerpoint)
• Beneficial, but not mandatory are: previous experience with thermal and mechanical synthesis, experience with common chemical and physical analysis methods, experience with using LIMS and ELN.

We are looking for a specialist in quality management. You will be working in the Biomaterials division in Stockholm, and you will report to the Director of Emerging Business in Bio-based carbons.
As a specialist in quality management, your purpose will be to take a leading role in defining, creating and running the quality management system required for the emerging business opportunity of biobased carbons, integrating customer needs, as well as internal stakeholders, such as operations, sales, business development, and regulatory affair.
The Role
Your main responsibilities will be to:
- define, create, roll out and own a quality management system for the biobased carbon production and all adjacent unit operations;
- assess and incorporate target industries’ standards and requirements;
- create auditable production environment, including documentation and reporting systems;
- set up quality monitoring procedures, quality KPI's, evaluate performance and make improvement proposals, i.e. process capability;
- participate and give input to quality gate reviews in the industrialization phase of Product Development to ensure reliable manufacturing of products;
- take part in pilot plant operations review and forward formulate scaling investment requirements, including definition of acceptance testing and qualification milestones of new process equipment;
- oversee the Quality Control and testing plan, review results and process performance and initiate improvement projects;
- setup and own root cause failure analysis activities, including trouble shooting activities;
- quality improvement initiatives such as Six Sigma in pilot operations and scaling activities;
- participate and actively take over responsibilities in defining customer quality audit and product acceptance activities.

Profound understanding of structure, texture, morphology and surface properties or carbon powder materials, and of ways of how to analyse these and of how to tailor them by proper processing conditions.
Proven practical and theoretical knowledge on carbon powder synthesis and processing, including industrially relevant thermal, mechanical, and post-modification technologies and solutions.

Experience with design of experiments and statistical data analysis.

Beneficial skills:

Your responsibilities and tasks are to:
· Plan and perform experimental work, mainly material and product testing according to standardized methods.
· Evaluate and modify test methods.
· Document and evaluate experimental data and communicate the results in written form as well as orally.
· Be responsible for that laboratory and test equipment is in good condition.
· Be responsible for safety at your own work and ensure that safety procedures in the laboratory are followed.

The Innovation Centre in Stockholm hosts versatile talents in research, business development and marketing, working together to reach our ambitious goals.TasksYour main task will be to enable successful execution on new business/brand launches and business growth in Stora Enso Biomaterials through insights driven, consumer centric approaches from front end of innovation to market launch. You will also develop marketing and sales capability within the existing teams and support development of start-ups into scale-ups, into stand-alone businesses.You will also plan, execute and drive new product and business development insights, value proposition, branding strategies, and launching plans, including holistic marketing materials and activities to support the rollout of new products. Moreover, you will develop new marketing lead sales capabilities within the organization and support sales plans, as well as support the scaling up of businesses.RequirementsTo succeed in this role, you have a degree in marketing or related fields, combined with 10 years of experience in the field of marketing in branded businesses. You have excellent skills in English and a demonstrated track record in turning novel product concepts into strong brand concepts  and launching new brands successfully on a global scale.
